Trafficked with Mariana van Zeller was an original documentary series that explores the complex and dangerous inner-workings of the global underworld, black and informal markets. Each adventure follows Mariana on a mission to follow the chain of custody of trafficked goods, understand how to obtain the contraband, or see the 360-degree view of the trafficking world from the point of view of the smugglers, law enforcement and those caught in the crossfire.

Working on Trafficked was rewarding. I got to do two things I love so much: deep investigative journalism and connecting with people I would otherwise never get to meet. Making this show was very challenging, but I believe in Mariana’s vision of telling difficult, complex stories about the black market with empathy, curiosity, and non-judgment. It’s the kind of journalism I hope we can all perpetuate. I also believe in the cliche that sometimes in the darkest places, you find the brightest lights.
